Vriesea is a genus of flowering plants in the botanical family Bromeliaceae, subfamily Tillandsioideae. The genus name is for Willem Hendrik de Vriese, Dutch botanist, physician (1806–1862). Its species are widespread over Mexico, Central America, South America and the West Indies.

Light
Vriesea can’t stand the sun’s rays when they touch its leaves directly. Good light but no direct sunlight is what’s needed.
Watering
Regular but moderate watering is called for because Vriesea doesn’t usually require a lot of water.
Temperature
Keep Vriesea above 16 degrees Celcius and ideally between 18 and 24 degrees.
Humidity
High humidity is a must. Either keep the central well topped with water or introduce a pebble tray to maintain constant humidity.
Feed
During the growing season, April through October, thoroughly coat the all surfaces of the foliage with the diluted solution at least twice a month.
